I knew the F10-generation M5 would be good before I even got to Spain (the international launch venue for BMW’s latest super saloon) because I had read reviews of the car penned by overseas-based motoring scribes. BMW “M” cars are also among the finest in the business, usually class-leading in each segment they contest, but shortly after becoming acquainted with the newcomer, I came to realise: the all-new M5 is a real beast of motor.

If you are reading this then you probably already know the headline figures. It packs a twin-turbocharged V8 that thumps out 412 kW between 6 000 and 7 000 r/min. That is coupled with a peak torque value of 680 N.m delivered on a 4 250 r/min plateau between 1 500 and 5 750.   Read More…

The Daytona Group, McLaren’s official South African distributor, will probably have one of the most crowded stands at this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show as the luxury car importer shows off a mixture of highly sought-after prestige and performance models, including the McLaren MP4-12C.

The 441 kW, 600 N.m McLaren supercar will make its first full public showing in South Africa at its stand in Hall 6 of the NASREC Exhibition Centre, while stands in Hall 10 will play host to offerings from Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce.  Read More…

The Optima, which made its world debut at last year’s New York Motor Show, will provide Kia Motors South Africa with a stylish entrant into the compact saloon segment. Several engine options are available across world markets, with South African car models probably comprising 2,0- and 2,4-litre petrol four-pots, delivering 122- and 131 kW respectively.
